Dear Friend,
I wrote this poem back in January, right before MLK Jr. Day. I hope you enjoy!
They say the writings on the wall
but truth be told
I see nothing at all
Mothers losing sons to war
but we fight not for a cure
Fathers hiding in closets
trying to discover who they are
Daughters in love
with ads from Juicy Couture
while sons manipulate girls
into sexual intercourse
Dr. King said let freedom ring
I guess we forgot what that means
to focused on Britney Spears
All Hail to the Queen?
To blame
who should we face
we made this world
a disgrace
Questions we all have
with answers no one
is willing to trace
The forecast called for sunshine
and rain is all I get
The government got us scared
terrorist they say is the threat
Babies lay crying in Africa
AID they hope to get
while AIDS has taken their fathers
their mothers in search of water
Politicians bidding for office
with changes they promise to all
They say the writings on the wall
but truth be told
I see nothing at all
Love,
Robert
